Worcestershire County Museum is housed in the north wing of Hartlebury Castle.  The building was home to the Bishops of Worcester for over 1,000 years and has experienced many architectural changes, a Civil War siege and numerous royal visits.

The museum exhibits a nationally important collection of colourful Gypsy caravans, beautiful costume, social history, archaeology, travel & transport,  examples from ‘

The Bromsgrove Guild’, toys through time and galleries which explore the intriguing story of Worcestershire's past. Visitors can also see room sets such as the schoolroom and scullery,

Which are regularly brought to life by visiting schoolchildren and period rooms that focus on the Victorian and Civil War eras. A large amount of our Collection is kept in stores - if you wish to view a stored item please contact our Collections Officers for more information.The museum hosts temporary exhibitions, exciting events and arts & craft courses throughout the year, so there is always something new to see and do at Hartlebury.

As part of our education service your pupils can enjoy creative on and off site cross-curricula linked sessions for Key Stages 1, 2 and beyond. Each activity is rich in creativity and language, stretches your pupil's thinking and reasoning skills, focuses on historic enquiry and offers a number of methods of teaching to suit your children’s different learning styles. Activity sessions can be tailor made to suit your requirements and your group’s abilities.

We also provide an object loan service for schools and a Mobile Museum which brings the museum to your door!
