Secure Secondary Windows - Selectaglaze Ltd

In the current social, commercial and political environment, buildings in many locations are becoming increasingly vulnerable to attack or to the effects of attack, from any number of sources.
Windows have traditionally been seen as soft targets for physical attack and points of entry for intruders and have provided little protection against bomb blast – whether from the remote car bomb or the specifically targeted “parcel” by the window. Flying glass can be a main cause of injury to those in a building that suffers from a blast. Building owners and managers therefore have a duty under their Health and Safety obligations to consider the risks.
Recognising this potential chink in societys armour against crime and terrorism, Royal Warrant holder, Selectaglaze Ltd., the countrys leading secondary glazing specialist, has developed a range of solutions to window protection at a number of levels, starting with low level blast or anti-bandit and building to higher levels requiring full certification. In Selectaglazes case, products have been certified to offer a high level of hazard protection when tested to Class EXR1 of BS EN 13123 and to draft standard ISO 16933.
Physical attack (LPS1175) requires products to resist sustained attack against a variety of tools. A selection of Selectaglazes products have achieved Security Rating 2, which must resist tools such as a claw hammer, screwdrivers, pipe wrench and a hand drill.
Selectaglaze is also certified by Secured by Design the Police flagship initiative supporting the principles of designing out crime by use of effective crime prevention and security standards for a range of applications, thus supporting one of the Governments key planning objectives the creation of secure, quality places where people wish to live and work.
To back up these product developments, Selectaglaze has launched a bespoke brochure which provides detailed information of the company's Security Range. Entitled "Window Protection Systems", it graphically outlines window styles and capabilities together with applications, special features, test certifications, etc and is seen to be an essential piece of information for anyone concerned in building security.
