Bus shelter Manufacturer, Quality Hardwood - Littlethorpe of Leicester Ltd

Littlethorpe of Leicesterestablished in 1983 has been providing quality hardwood bus shelters for decades. In that time co-founders Andy and Norma Robinson have seen the popularity of these traditional crafted structures increase dramatically. Today more and more of the country’s local authorities are choosing Littlethorpe’s products to enhance a town or village street scene, particularly in conservation areas, and provide an environmentally sound Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified product.

With a lifespan of 50 to 100 years the bus shelters are sold factory finished and delivered directly to site in one piece. They are constructed using similar methods to Tudor timber framed houses using time-proven mortise and tennon joints and hardwood dowels. No screws, bolts or even glues are required. The product is finished with a water-based wood stains, also ensuring a low impact on the environment.

In the interest of low maintenance the shelter glass is uniquely 15mm thick and carries a 1 year money back guarantee in case of deliberate or accidental damage. The design is such that the shelters use the minimum amount of glass to keep future repair costs down yet provide excellent visibility. Plus all the shelters are sold with a graffiti and maintenance pack and boast a five-year guarantee

Other environmental features include the option of solar powered lighting which can be designed to come on during hours of darkness or as someone enters the shelter. The shelters are designed to prevent rain water entering and to accommodate the wood’s natural expansion and contraction. After installation customers have the option to alter the glass and boarding which are easily interchangeable.

In summary, Littlethorpe hardwood bus shelters demonstrate an attractive, traditionally built and environmentally sound product that can and is being used in hundreds of public places up and down the country in both rural, and urban and sub-urban locations.

proof of Littlethorpe’s confidence in the shelters’ design integrity.
