IM Losing Hair
On Friday 4th November, an unusual event took place at MBDA in Stevenage. 35 men in Information Management (and one or two other male colleagues in other directorates) bravely agreed to have their flowing locks shaved off.
The reason for this is that Vicky Bird, the Service Delivery Manager for the Information Management (I.M.) department at MBDA Ltd was diagnosed with breast cancer and has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
This means that she will be losing her hair as the chemotherapy continues. So as not to make her feel left out, some of her male colleagues within IM (those with hair), have volunteered to have their heads shaved for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.
The cuts were carried out by 7 trainee hairdressers under the supervision of their tutor, the event was also supported by the local newspaper and local M.P.
All of this has been in aid of charity, specifically Macmillan Cancer Support. They have passed their £2000 target to be raised and the total so far is £2,292.50.
