Hostile Vehicle Mitigation verification status achieved by Frontier Pitts

Frontier Pitts Ltd, a founder member of the Perimeter Security Suppliers Association (PSSA) trade association were very excited to be invited to be one of the first companies to take  part in the pilot Product Verification Scheme for Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) equipment which launched in 2011.

The scheme aims to provide confidence to perimeter security product buyers and others that products supplied by PSSA Members conform to internationally recognized quality and product safety standards which provide assurance that:

  • Products are fit for purpose-designed to meet customer, market and regulatory requirements
  • Products are consistently manufactured and supplied conforming to their agreed specifications
  • Products when in use produce the intended performance outcomes specified by the customer

Having reviewed the streamlined objectives and aims of the scheme Frontier Pitts entered a period of consultation with Business Keys Ltd, experts in the product conformity and management systems arena for HVM equipment. Receiving guidance from Business Keys Ltd a period of re-alignment followed which meant meeting all the areas of compliance required by the technical scheme specifications. This included extensive product conformity and management system process auditing. A short time lapsed and having assured themselves they were in a good place to achieve verification, Frontier Pitts formally entered their application with PSSA.  Appropriate desk and on-site site audits were conducted by independent UKAS accredited organization HPA Ltd with the results submitted to the PSSA certification committee for review and consideration. As a result of the certification committee deliberations Frontier Pitts Ltd were awarded their first PSSA Verified accredited product certificate in December 2011 for their unique Terra V Gate system.

Having achieved the prestigious & coveted verification scheme recognition Frontier Pitts has seen a rise in customer enquiries, and, moreover, orders for their Terra V Gate. The very fact of an increasing order book gives underlining confidence that perspective purchasers of HVM equipment see the importance of purchasing assured product to a recognized accreditation scheme supported by a Government department.

Through recognition of their products to meet PSSA Scheme requirements Frontier Products are designed and tested to meet Nationally & Internationally recognized Hostile Vehicle Mitigation specification PAS 68 and Installation specification PAS 69, both published by the British Standards Institution (BSI)

From high security sites such as Utilities, Oil Storage and Data Centre’s, to Government buildings and nationwide public sites, some of which formed part of London’s 2012 celebrations, the Frontier Pitts PSSA Verified PAS 68 impacted tested Terra V Gate has established itself in the specifier’s listings for quality and conformance assured product.   Managing Director Stephen Gaffer is very pleased with the effect that Verified status has brought to their product range and can only see the scheme gathering strength and forming an important pre qualification for successful HVM purchasing. Stephen’s optimism was confirmed in April 2013, and buoyed by their first successful scheme experience, Frontier Pitts submitted a further 6 products into the scheme for verification. Stephen’s confidence with the scheme resulted with the presentation of further 6 scheme certificates at the London Olympia Counter Terror Exhibition & Conference for an additional range of HVM product.

With the market now saturated with an increasing range of HVM products, manufacturers are keen to 'stand out from the crowd' and provide a competitive edge to their industry Frontier Pitts Ltd, a market leader in HVM products have always been committed to supplying their customers with a high quality product, backed by a strong & robust “After Sales and Maintenance Service which can be relied upon to give clients peace of mind”. This is only achievable with a strong internal company quality management system, detailed technical specifications, precise and effective mechanical and electrical control systems and an ingrained work ethic which is ultimately founded and formulated on compliance to the PSSA scheme requirements whilst incorporating the conformity regime of British Standards, which as Frontier Pitts have discovered, are recognized across the globe.

With the many third party audits undertaken on a regular basis, with organizations such as BSI, BRE, NDA, PSSA and now HPA, Frontier Pitts Ltd continue to illustrate that they are committed to providing safe, compliant and quality assured product.

Frontier Pitts Ltd strongly believes it is now a necessity for all manufacturers, suppliers and installers of Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) products to be third party accredited to ensure and confirm the tested product is the same product which is installed. It is absolutely imperative in these times of security threats that the client receives the highest levels of physical protection for sites and their perimeters from terrorist or criminal attack.

On receiving the Verified Award for a further 6 products, including the Terra Sliding Cantilevered GateCompact Terra BarrierTerra Ultimate BarrierTerra BlockerTerra Shallow Blocker and Terra Surface Mount Blocker, Sally Osmond, Brand & Development Manager at Frontier Pitts commented "Frontier Pitts are proud to show an ongoing commitment to the PSSA Verification Scheme.

We want to highlight the importance of the foundation to any company; standards, operating systems, technical specifications and drawings, to ensure that the same specification of equipment that is PAS 68 impact tested, is the same specification that is installed on sites, Protecting Your World for years to come".
