ACPO-APA 2007 was a Resounding Success
The 2007 International Policing Exhibition and ACPO-APA Summer Conference attracted almost 2,000 professionals from the policing and security sector to Manchester Central (G-Mex) from 20-21 June.
Attendees included Chief and Assistant Chief Police Officers, Police Authority members, representatives from the Home Office, the Border and Immigration Agency, British Transport Police, Crown Prosecution Service, HM Prison Service, HM Revenue and Customs, the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA), all ranks of the police and those specialising in forensics, crime reduction, training, procurement, community safety, IT and communications.
New Prime Minister Gordon Brown gave the opening address to assembled delegates gathered for the full 3-day conference programme covering a wide range of issues including workforce modernisation, leadership, police funding, human trafficking and hate crime, human rights, managing sex offenders and criminal justice.
The 2008 event will be held at the Liverpool Arena and Convention Centre (ACC). The exhibition will take place from 25-26 June with the ACPO-APA Summer Conference taking place alongside it from 24-26 June at the same venue.
ACPO President Ken Jones said ‘The recent ACPO-APA 2007 conference in Manchester was a great success and we look forward to continuing that tradition in Liverpool. As President, I am delighted that our most important annual gathering of members will take place in the European Capital of Culture for 2008’.
Association of Police Authorities Chairman Bob Jones added, ‘We very much look forward to bringing the conference to the city and are excited that ACC Liverpool has the potential to ensure the conference and exhibition provide an excellent experience for all visitors’.
